Nancy Kirk

Kirk encounters everything through her art. She has worked as a scenic painter for opera and ballet in Florence, Italy, illustrator, painter and interior muralist. She has assisted art conservators in the restoration of historic Broadway theaters and was commissioned to add extensive original figurative work to the Golden Theater on 45th St. in New York City. Residential mural work shows the influence of the Hudson River school of painters. A real passion for abstract art shows the authority of her strong representational foundation.

A Taos resident, Kirk explores the magic that is inherent to this place. Ravens, magpies, walking rain, talking clouds, sage abstracts, and the mystical geometry of spirit are some of the many subjects she interprets. From hand carved woodblock prints to wildly imaginative digital collages you really have to see the work in one place to get the whole picture.

Kirk is currently being represented by Georgia Gersh at Magpie in downtown Taos, where you can see a sampling of her work.
