Margaret Tange
Margaret Tange grew up surrounded by wildlife on the family cattle/wheat ranch in Northeastern Montana. Her life on the ranch included driving farm equipment and riding horses in the coulees. Always in close contact with nature, she began drawing at a young age, encouraged by her mother who was an accomplished landscape artist.
She received her BFA from the University of Southern California and her MA in Painting from the University of the Americas in Mexico City. Her love of art and travel took her to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Mexico. She studied stone carving in Pietra Santa, Italy with Bernice Schachter and perfected her clay and bronze sculpting skills under the tutelage of Pericle Fazzini in Rome. Summer finds her attending marble sculpture classes at the Marble Marble Symposiums held in Marble. Margaret taught art in Los Angeles schools for twenty-eight years. She has displayed her artwork in galleries in Mexico City, Santa Fe, Taos, Crested Butte, Gunnison, Montrose, and Grand Junction. Locally selected drawings, paintings, and sculptures can be viewed at the Gunnison Gallery in Gunnison, Colorado. Margaret currently enjoys painting and sculpting from her studio in Taos, New Mexico.
