Ricky Pass

Ricky Pass is a mixed media artist working in Taos, New Mexico.

As a child she spent many summers with her grandparents in Northern New Mexico, forming an intense interest in the history and mystique of the area. That early experience inspired her to move her home and art studio to Taos.

After a career in interior design, where she specialized in historical renovation, she now paints full time. While she earlier worked as a plein air artist, her recent work is abstract, concerning biography and sense of place.

Historic research or interview is often part of her process. Using trash ephemera, found posters and photographs, she builds visual stories of ordinary people and places that live in memory. She uses a variety of paints, ink, wax and dyes to achieve color and texture. her lino-cuts and monotypes are often integrated in her collage work.

Ricky has served as Vice President on the Taos Fall Art Festival Board for 5 years. Her formal studies in art and design were at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and Meramec College in St. Louis, MO. she has studied individually with Ray Vinella, Kim English, Nicholas Wilton and Krista Harris.
